Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data the Cost & Budget for Jira app ("the app") accesses, what it stores, and how it is handled. The app is built on Atlassian Forge and runs entirely within Atlassian's cloud infrastructure.

In short: we read the time your team logs in Jira in order to calculate cost, we store only the settings you enter (rates, budgets, expenses), and your data never leaves Atlassian's cloud. We do not sell or share it with anyone.

1. Data we access

The app reads the following from your Jira site, only to calculate and display cost and budget figures:

Worklogs — time logged, the author of each entry, and the date it relates to.
User display names — so cost can be attributed to a person.
Issues, projects and original estimates — to aggregate project cost and produce planned-cost and forecast figures.
The current user's administrator permission — to determine whether they are allowed to see cost figures.

This access is read-only. The app does not modify your Jira issues, worklogs or users.

2. Data we store

The app stores only the configuration you enter, using Atlassian Forge storage within your own Atlassian cloud instance:

Hourly rates (per user or default) and their effective-from dates
Reporting currency
Project budgets
Recurring expenses (label, monthly amount, start date)

We do not copy or retain your worklogs, issues or personal data outside Atlassian, and we operate no external database or server.

3. Artificial intelligence features

The optional "AI budget summary" sends only aggregated numeric budget figures for the selected project — such as budget, actual cost, forecast and per-person cost totals — to Atlassian's hosted AI service. No data is sent to any third party outside Atlassian, and nothing leaves Atlassian's cloud. The feature is only available to Jira administrators and is never invoked automatically.

4. Access control

Hourly rates can reveal salary information. For that reason, all cost and rate figures are restricted to Jira administrators, and this restriction is enforced on the server: non-administrators never receive cost values, even in the raw API response. Non-administrators can see hours only.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, share or transmit your data to any third party. The app contains no analytics trackers, no advertising, and makes no calls to external services.

6. Data residency and security

The app runs on Atlassian Forge and qualifies as Runs on Atlassian: all processing and storage happen inside Atlassian's cloud, under Atlassian's security model and data-residency controls. We do not host any infrastructure of our own.

7. Data retention and deletion

Configuration data persists until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes the app's stored data from your instance. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.

8. Your rights

Because your data remains in your own Atlassian instance and under your control as the data controller, you can access, correct, export or delete it directly. For any request or question regarding this policy, contact us at the address below.

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date at the top of this page.
